Adams County Community Foundation Supports “Voices of Appalachia” December Concert

The Adams County Community Foundation has awarded a community arts grant to support the upcoming Voices of Appalachia holiday concert, “Night of Wonder, Night of Joy,” at the First Presbyterian Church in West Union on Saturday, December 6 at 3:00 pm, and Sunday, December 7, at 7:00 pm..

The Foundation joins the Adams County Arts Council and other community partners and individual donors in sponsoring this growing musical tradition, which celebrates the talent, heritage, and creative spirit of Adams County.

Now entering its second full year, Voices of Appalachia has seen attendance at its concerts nearly double since its inaugural 2024 performance. The 2025 holiday program promises to be its most ambitious yet, featuring a professional string quartet, a brass quintet, a handbell choir composed of local players, a children’s chorus of area students, and several local instrumentalists joining the ensemble.

Dr. Brandon Stroup, Founder and Director of Voices of Appalachia, expressed appreciation for the Foundation’s support:

Funds for this event will ensure that we can continue to utilize and collaborate with professional musicians, both local and from the Cincinnati area, bringing both excellence and exposure to our wonderful county.”

The Voices of Appalachia choir, established by Dr. Stroup in 2024, was created to offer regional singers a professional-level choral experience and to enrich the local arts scene through performances that celebrate hope, peace, and Appalachian cultural heritage.

The Adams County Community Foundation  invests in local initiatives that enhance quality of life through education, the arts, and community collaboration. The Foundation extended its sincere appreciation to Dr. Brandon Stroup for the vision, dedication, and hard work required to create and sustain this wonderful choral initiative that enriches Adams County’s cultural life.

“Dr. Stroup’s passion and leadership have brought new life and excitement to the arts in our community,” said Linda Stepp, Chair of the Adams County Community Foundation. “His ability to unite people through music reflects exactly the kind of local initiative our Foundation is proud to support.”

John Lawler, Adams County Community Foundation Board Member, added, “By investing in programs like Voices of Appalachia, we’re not only supporting the arts but also strengthening community pride and connection. This choir is helping put Adams County on the regional cultural map.”
