The Jan and Andy Davenport Scholarship Fund was established by Sara Pomeroy in honor of her parents, Jan and Andy Davenport. This fund aims to support students from Adams County who wish to pursue further education, either at a university or a trade school.
Jan Davenport has dedicated nearly 33 years to teaching in the Adams County Ohio Valley school system, spanning a range of grade levels and subjects. Her teaching experience includes kindergarten, art, and 8th-grade language arts, among others. She is a proud graduate of Seaman High School, Class of 1970.
Andy Davenport, a 1968 graduate of West Union High School, retired after 30 years of service with the Ohio History Connection, previously known as the Ohio Historical Society. In addition to his historical work, Andy has been running his own small electric and plumbing business since 1988.
Both Jan and Andy Davenport are passionate about education and have a strong desire to give back to their community by supporting higher education, whether through college or vocational training. The scholarship fund reflects their commitment to helping the next generation of students achieve their educational goals.
