Donating to an Existing Fund

You can make a difference by contributing to one of the many funds already established with the Adams County Community Foundation. Each fund is designed to meet specific goals or reflect the values of its donors—together, they help create lasting impact across our community.

Adams County Community Foundation Fund

Established in 2019 as both an organizational and unrestricted endowment, this fund is essential for meeting the evolving needs of Adams County. Unrestricted funds give the Foundation the flexibility to respond to emerging challenges, launch new initiatives, and support organizations and projects that make a meaningful difference—today and for generations to come.

Adams County Scholarship Fund

Founded in 2020 by JoAnn and Kent Gulley, graduates of Peebles High School, this was the Foundation’s first endowed scholarship fund. It supports Adams County residents pursuing college or vocational education.

C.E. Smith Family Scholarship Fund

Created in 2022 to support Adams County residents seeking higher education or vocational training through a permanently endowed scholarship.

C.E. Smith Family Charitable Fund

Established in 2025 as an unrestricted endowment with funding priorities including the care and well-being of children, animal welfare, and the upkeep of public cemeteries.

Charles Hugh McGovney Scholarship Fund

Established in 2021 by Sue McGovney in memory of her husband, a lifelong pharmacist in Adams County. Hugh and Sue McGovney valued education and community service, and this scholarship reflects their commitment to both.

David Worley Memorial Fund

Founded in 2024 by Linda Worley and children Lauren and Paul in memory of David B. Worley. This fund supports educational and arts-related initiatives in Adams County, honoring David’s legacy as an educator and civic leader.

Earl and Helen Johnson Scholarship Fund

Created in 2021 by their son, Bill Johnson, in memory of his parents. A West Union graduate who became a U.S. Air Force instructor and successful businessman, Bill established this scholarship to help Adams County students pursue education beyond high school.

First State Bank Dan Ferguson Scholarship Fund

Launched in 2024 by First State Bank in memory of Dan Ferguson, former Vice President and Chief Information Officer. The fund supports students pursuing degrees or certifications in information technology.

First State Bank Unrestricted Endowment Fund

Established in 2020, this unrestricted endowment enables the Foundation to respond flexibly to our community’s greatest needs over time.

Friends of Adams County 4-H & Extension Endowment Fund

Created in 2023 as an organizational endowment to provide a stable, long-term funding source for 4-H and Extension programming in Adams County. The Foundation invests and manages the fund on behalf of the nonprofit.

Humane Society of Adams County Legacy Fund

Established in 2021, this organizational endowment supports the Humane Society’s mission through ongoing, sustainable funding managed by the Foundation.

Jan and Andy Davenport Scholarship Fund

Founded in 2024 by daughter Sara Pomeroy to honor her parents. Jan served 33 years in the Adams County Ohio Valley School District; Andy worked with the Ohio History Connection and operated a local electric and plumbing business. The scholarship supports students who share their commitment to community and education.

Quiverheart Support for Adams County Fund

Established in 2022 to benefit Adams County through grants that align with the donor’s philanthropic mission.

Stephen and Kelly Blake-Caraway Community Fund

An advised fund created in 2022 by Stephen and Kelly Blake-Caraway. It supports qualified nonprofit organizations and causes recommended by the donors.

Sue Fristoe McGovney Giving Back Fund

Established in 2025 as an unrestricted endowment in honor of Sue’s parents, Kenneth and Wava Fristoe, and grandparents, Ed and Martha Gore Fristoe. This fund helps ensure the Foundation can respond to Adams County’s changing needs with strength and flexibility.

New funds are welcomed and will be added as we grow. Every gift—large or small—builds a stronger future for Adams County.
